ENJOY marketing from a spiritual, meaningful, generous perspective (and sell more books)!

 Hello friend,

I stumbled across a Tedx speech recently and knew I had to share it with you. My clients are sometimes nervous about marketing their books, but when they think about marketing in a different way (as in helping your reader find what he/she is looking for vs. selling a product), they become energized and excited. Maybe you wrote your book to entertain, perhaps you wrote your story to inspire others, or maybe you wrote your book to actually make people healthier and even save families. If so, look at marketing as a way to deliver what you created to the people you are trying to love. This Ted Talk by marketing expert Steve Harrison is encouraging. I hope you enjoy learning from him. CLICK HERE TO WATCH.

Happy, HAPPY marketing!

In search of YOUR opinion. Please don't judge me by my video skills. Ha!

Enjoy the video? I also want you to have a free social media tool. Just enter your name and email to download it HERE.

If this video doesn't play (because I am learning how to better use video for my clients' sakes and still on the wrong end of the bell curve), here's what I would love to know from you:

What would be a pretty, inspiring, but not too overwhelming backdrop for my videos?

What is your greatest frustration when it comes to marketing your book?

Where can I find the BEST concealer for my hillbilly pale, freckled complex?

What is a good, affordable mattress for a sleep-deprived publisher and her husband with a herniated disc (the reason I need the concealer)?

What topics should I add to my upcoming online course titled Market Your Book?

WIN A FREE HOUR OF MARKETING COACHING with ME. Here are the rules...

 Hello creative friend,

No matter where you are in the writing process (idea to published book), you should be working on marketing. I spend a few hours every Friday researching new ways to market books, authors, and business. Recently, I started a Self-Publish Your Book Mastermind, and we are using the Volley app to communicate. I definitely need more practice, but this app is awesome. Volley is perfect for teaching, talking, collaborating, and generally communicating. You can't interrupt. You can talk way faster than you can type. You respond and listen at YOUR convenience. The "talkers" never have to be in the same place at the same time. I'd love for you to give it a try! I am sending this email to everyone on my list as a contest. The first person to download Volley (it's free) and send me a direct message gets 60 minutes of FREE marketing coaching. The only rule is that we have to use Volley for the coaching conversation.

Here's the link: https://www.volleyapp.com/downloads

Let's talk!

GoodReads.com is worth your time. Here's a quick list of benefits.

Hello from the Crippled Beagle Publishing headquarters. Are you using GoodReads.com? If not, you should be!

GoodReads.com is a social media platform for READERS, so naturally, AUTHORS should be hanging out there. Not only can you talk directly with readers and kindly promote your work, but you can also host giveaways. Giveaways introduce thousands of potential readers (and potential purchasers) to you. I advise all of my clients to start free Goodreads.com accounts and use them at least weekly to engage with readers. Remember, books live forever, so you can take your time and enjoy marketing your work.

GoodReads.com platform is FREE to use. You can get started in under ten minutes.

The GoodReads.com author page (which can serve as a website-type landing page for you) is FREE. You can set up your author page in under ten minutes. Click HERE to see mine. There are so many ways to talk with readers, so scroll through the page to see how you can use this awesome book marketing tool.

You can ask authors questions, directly, for FREE. I love this feature. Here's a screenshot displaying some of my clients' answers to reader questions.

You can enter giveaways as a reader for FREE.

You can promote your books for FREE. Try hopping onto GoodReads today. Then hang out, talk to people, select books, rate books, etc., a couple of times a week.

If you host a giveaway, you do have to pay, but a giveaway means direct exposure to people who likely want to read your book. If they don't win it, they may buy it. If they do win, they are encouraged to write reviews. Read the details HERE.

I just entered SEVERAL giveaways on GoodReads. Why? Because GoodReads sent me an email with a list of books that are currently in giveaway promotions. Your book could be on that list. GoodReads will market your book with you.

Your work is worth the investment of time and money! If you'd like to use our cheat sheet to quickly set up your GoodReads.com author page AND the Amazon Author Central page, here's that link again (the tool is toward the bottom of the page): https://crippledbeaglepublishing.mykajabi.com/resources.

Happy marketing!

Learn from the best and enjoy this free tool that will help you sell books.

 My dear creative friend,

Did you accomplish your goals in 2022? If not, why not? I'm hard on myself, and like most people, I tend to focus on my missteps and not my big steps forward. Let's look backward in a new direction this time. Confused? Don't be. Right now, I have a challenge for you. Write down five big positives you DID experience in 2022.

1. What did you learn?

2. What did you accomplish?

3. What did you overcome?

4. What did you survive?

5. How did you improve as a human being?

Congratulations! You are one year better than you were a year ago today!

When I taught high school and handed out a rubric, I advised students to tear off the high score column and trash the others. The physical act of ripping the paper and focusing on the best possible outcome helped their mindsets, which ultimate raised their grades. Friend, mimic the BEST work, then do your best.

Pat Head Summitt (University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball coach) was a genius, so let's learn from her. I hope these quotes from Coach Summitt inspire you like they inspire me. Now is the time to set your goals HIGH for 2023, then do your best! If you need help, the Crippled Beagle Publishing team and I are here.

“No one feels strong when she examines her own weakness. But in facing weakness, you learn how much there is in you, and you find real strength.”
“Hard work breeds self-respect.”
“With attitude, you can determine your own performance.”
“The willingness to experiment with change may be the most essential ingredient to success at anything.”
"Too many people opt out and never discover their own abilities because they fear failure."
“The best way to handle responsibility is to break it down into smaller parts. Take care of one small thing at a time.
"Plan your work, and work your plan."

When it comes to book marketing, the plan is everything. There are six fundamental pillars to a good book marketing plan, and they are included in our Book Marketing Planner for Authors (plus I added 6 more topics for you to explore). This is a free tool that I hope will help you start or build on your existing plan.
